Just returned from our aboriginal living skills course with Cody Lundin, which was a three day hiking and backpacking trip in the Verde Valley canyon. Quickly uploaded a video to give you a sense of where we were (more to come later!).
Before leaving, we were instructed to use the trip as a way to reconnect with nature and to observe. But further, I believe that the purpose of...

Because you want to.
The academic year is almost over. The seniors will be graduating imminently, and the work they’ve done — the countless hours — will soon become a memory. You’ve printed, sanded, modeled, and kerned your way to becoming a designer, and with any luck you’ll be awesome at it.
You do your best when you’re working on something you want to see done well. I hope you keep that in mind when you pick your...

Of course, we’ll still have separate events such as IDSA’s website redesign event, or AIGA’s Context info session, but for things like the student lecture...

Greg Saul and Tiago Rorke (both of whom studied abroad at CMU’s School of Design) have created an open-source software that allows anyone to design and print his or her own furniture. Sick.
You can help them out by supporting them on Kickstarter!

You're an interaction designer, too.
At Confluence, you’re likely to encounter people who either a) want to define you, or b) want you to define yourself. This is natural, panic not. The answer to those questions may not come easily. ID at CMU attracts many different kinds of people. You might want to make toasters, cars, airships, toys, or even… “interactions.”
Interaction Design is a remarkably ambiguous field, and one that is...

2. For websites, unless you are going to knock it out of the park and/or really want to learn HTML, go...
